The Meyers collection consists of 7 account books related to the Iowa farm (ca. 1890 to 1907); correspondence and business papers related to the farm's mortgage, insurance policies, taxes, tenants, rentals and sale (1938); an attendance certificate, some student photographs and a library catalogue from the Hickory Grove School in Springdale, Iowa ; items from Scattergood School including a boys dorm picture, a catalogue, and a picture of the building when it was nearly completed (1894?); teacher's records, a grade report and a picture of Lewis and Olive Rockwell from the Friend's School in Paullina, Iowa; a catalogue of officers and students of the Friends' Boarding School near Centerdale, Iowa; minutes from the 1953 Iowa Yearly Meeting (Conservative); copies of the two volumes (400 pages) of holograph biographies of Iowa Friends; and papers related to Joseph's estate.

Scattergood Friends School grew out of the plans of Hickory Grove Monthly Meeting and Joseph Henry Scattergood's support for a Friends boarding school in Eastern Iowa. The school opened in 1890 with 39 students and aimed to provide a "substantial English education". The school came under the ownership and direction of the Iowa Yearly Meeting (Conservative) in 1917. Joseph E. Meyers (1858-1937), the son of William D. and Mary Warner Meyers, was a Conservative Orthodox Quaker, raised in Pennsdale, Pennsylvania, as a member of Muncy Monthly Meeting. He attended Westtown School and worked as a school teacher and, later, farmer in Iowa and Ohio. He was a member of Stillwater Monthly Meeting of Friends for much of his life.
